Alex Huisman is in his third year as the head coach at Iowa Wesleyan University. Before taking over the head coaching role for the Tigers, Huisman served as an assistant for IWU.
Huisman comes to IWU after spending the last six years at Upper Iowa University. For the last two years, Huisman worked for Head Coach Brian Dolan as Graduate Assistant for the men’s basketball team. Huisman had many duties including scouting, player development, travel arrangements, recruiting, and monitoring players’ academic, among other duties. In his second season on the sideline the Peacocks reached the NCAA Division II tournament with a school D2 record 20 wins.
Prior to coaching, Huisman spent four years attending Upper Iowa University as a student. Huisman also spent four seasons as a member of the men’s basketball team playing for Coach Dolan. In 2011, Huisman graduated from UIU with a Bachelor of Science degree in K-12 Physical Education, Health, and Coaching.
