Mount Pleasant, Iowa - October 8, 2017 - The Iowa Wesleyan women's soccer team hosted Fontbonne University today.  The match was originally scheduled for yesterday, but it was rescheduled for today due to the weather.  The Tigers were able to score a goal in today's match, but it was not enough as Fontbonne would defeat the Tigers 9-1.

Iowa Wesleyan's defense was pressured from the start. The Griffins scored two goals in the first six minutes of play and added two by the eleven minute mark.  The Tigers would give up four more goals before the half was over.

Grace Alongi (FR/Rock Island, IL) took two shots for the Tigers in the opening period.  She gave Iowa Wesleyan their lone goal in the game.  Fontbonne picked up a yellow card, and the Tigers earned a free kick. Alongi took the shot and it sailed over the hands of the Griffins goalie for the first goal for IW.

Fontbonne scored one goal in the second half to bring the score to 9-1.  The Griffins would hold the Tiger offense without a shot in the half, and go on to secure the win.

Destiny Colon (FR/Colorado Springs, CO) was in the net for the Tigers, and she faced twenty-three shots on goal for the day. Colon finished the match with fourteen saves.

Iowa Wesleyan's next game will be on Thursday, October 12th. They will travel to Blackburn College for a 3 pm start.
