Duluth, Minnesota - October 7, 2017 -  In today's football action, Iowa Wesleyan was on the road at the College of St. Scholastica.  The Tigers were looking to turn things around after suffering a loss in last week's game against Eureka College.  The Tigers  were tied throughout the first half of play, but the defense gave up twenty-one points in the third quarter.  IW was unable to overcome the deficit and fell 38-28 to the Saints.

Both offenses took a little while to get things moving in today's game.  The first touchdown came with under five minutes remaining in the first quarter when St. Scholastica hauled in a twenty yard reception.  The Saints lead didn't last long as the Tigers were able to answer on their next possession.  Iowa Wesleyan's drive lasted nine plays and covered 77 yards.  Alex Payne (SR/Richards, MO) capped the drive off with a two yard rush for IW's first touchdown.  That proved to be the last touchdown of the first half, and the teams would take a 7-7 tie into the break.

St. Scholastica would score the first three touchdowns of the third quarter to take a 28-7 lead over the Tigers. Iowa Wesleyan was able to  get a touchdown before the third quarter would end.  DeMarcus Collins (FR/Abbeville, LA) connected with Tanner Holder (JR/Urbandale, IA) for a two yard reception to bring the score to 28-14.

The Saints would add another touchdown to start the fourth quarter.  Iowa Wesleyan answered with a three yard rush by Akenyon Bagley (FR/Sylvester, GA).  Bagley's touchdown brought the Tigers within ten points of the St. Scholastica lead. Iowa Wesleyan's defense came up big on the next Saints possession. Craig Wrenn (FR/Mesquite, TX) picked off a pass and returned it 84 yards for a touchdown.

The Tigers trailed by just three points after the interception.  St. Scholastica was able to come down on the next possession and score the final touchdown of the game. Iowa Wesleyan was unable to answer and fell 38-28 to the Saints.

DeMarcus Collins threw for 64 yards and a touchdown for the Tigers.  The leading rusher for the Tigers was Jacquez Hall (SO/Memphis, TN). Hall finished the game with twelve carries and 97 yards.  Christian Henriksen (SR/Donnellson, IA) led the Tiger defense with eleven tackles, including two for a loss of three yards.

Iowa Wesleyan will return be back in Minnesota next weekend when they take on the University of Northwestern.  Kickoff is set for 12 pm in St. Paul, Minnesota.
