Duluth, Minnesota - October 7, 2017 - In today's football action, Iowa Wesleyan was on the road at the College of St. Scholastica. The Tigers were looking to turn things around after suffering a loss in last week's game against Eureka College. The Tigers were tied throughout the first half of play, but the defense gave up twenty-one points in the third quarter. IW was unable to overcome the deficit and fell 38-28 to the Saints.
Both offenses took a little while to get things moving in today's game. The first touchdown came with under five minutes remaining in the first quarter when St. Scholastica hauled in a twenty yard reception. The Saints lead didn't last long as the Tigers were able to answer on their next possession. Iowa Wesleyan's drive lasted nine plays and covered 77 yards. Alex Payne (SR/Richards, MO) capped the drive off with a two yard rush for IW's first touchdown. That proved to be the last touchdown of the first half, and the teams would take a 7-7 tie into the break.
