Mount Pleasant, Iowa - October 7, 2017 -  Iowa Wesleyan hosted a St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic volleyball quad today in Ruble Arena.  Spalding University, Fontbonne University, and Blackburn College all participated in matches today.  The Tigers took on Spalding and Fontbonne and were hoping to pick up another win in SLIAC play.  IW was unable to come away with a win in either match, dropping both by scores of 1-3.

The Tigers opened the first match of the day against the Golden Eagles of Spalding University.  Iowa Wesleyan came out and won the first set by a score of 25-20 with the help of 13 kills and five attack errors by Spalding.

The Golden Eagles bounced back from the first set loss, and defeating the Tigers in the next three sets.  Iowa Wesleyan finished the match with 41 kills, compared to Spalding's 52 kills.  The difference in the scoring came from reception errors.   The Tigers finished with ten reception errors, while the Golden Eagles only had two for the match.

The final match of the day for the Tigers was against Fontbonne.  Once again, Iowa Wesleyan was able to get off to a quick start and take the opening set.  The Griffins came back to win the second set 25-15 after the Tigers committed nine attack errors.

Iowa Wesleyan dropped the third set to fall behind 2-1.  Despite a tough battle in the fourth set, the Tigers ended up falling 22-25 to the Griffins.   The Tiger ended the match with 38 kills.  The committed twenty-six attack errors, while Fontbonne only recorded fifteen attack errors.

Sydney Ellsworth (JR/Hill AFB, UT) led the team with 23 kills on the day, finishing with 13 kills in against Spalding and 10 kills against Fontbonne.
