Mount Pleasant, Iowa - October 1, 2017 - The Tiger volleyball team traveled to Eureka College yesterday. They were set to play two SLIAC matches, one  against Principia College and one Westminster College.  Iowa Wesleyan would drop both matches, falling 0-3 to both the Panthers and Red Devils. (IW vs. Principia - 25-16, 25-14, 25-16, IW vs. Westminster - 25-16, 25-16, 25-11)

In the opening match against Principia,  the Tigers were outhit 30-22 in kills.  Both teams finished the first set with nine kills and five attack errors.  The Panthers came back in the second set to put down nine kills, while the Tigers finished with five kills and six attack errors.  In the third set of play, Iowa Wesleyan had eight kills, while Principia recorded 13 kills and just one attack error.

Iowa Wesleyan's attack game was led by Jordan Miller (JR/High Ridge, MO) and Sydney Ellsworth (JR/Hill AFB, UT). Miller finished with six kills, while Ellsworth finished with five kills in the match.

The Tigers would try to bounce back against Westminster College in the second match of the day.  Westminster recorded 38 kills, compared to 22 by IW.  Iowa Wesleyan finished with ten kills in the opening set, seven in the second, and five in the final set of play.  

Lida Landre (JR/Loomis, CA) led the Tiger attack in the loss to Westminster. She finished with six kills in the match. Both Jordan Miller and Sydney Ellsworth recorded four kills in the second match.  Ariel Smale (JR/Guntersville, AL) finished the match with 18 assists.
