Mount Pleasant, Iowa - September 12, 2017 - Iowa Wesleyan hosted Faith Baptist Bible College in this afternoon's women's soccer action.  After picking up their first win this weekend, the Tigers were looking to keep the momentum going.  IW fell behind early and was unable to complete the comeback, falling to the Eagles by a score of 4-2.

Faith Baptist was the first team to get on the board, scoring the first goal of the game just under three minutes into play.  They extended their lead to 2-0 with a goal at the 17:57 minute mark.   Iowa Wesleyan found themselves trailing 3-0 when the Eagles added another goal ten minutes later.  Despite the deficit, the Tigers continued to play hard.  IW was finally able to break through and get on the board with a goal by Grace Alongi (FR/Rock Island, IL). Iowa Wesleyan had several chances to cut the lead to one goal, but they were unable to find the back of the net.  At the end of the first half,  Faith Baptist led the Tigers 3-1.

The Eagles started the second half with another goal, extending their lead to 4-1 over the Tigers. Iowa Wesleyan continued to pressure Faith Baptist.  Grace Alongi scored her second goal of the game at the 68:28 minute mark.  The Eagles continued to make runs on offense, but the Tiger defense would not allow another goal.  Iowa Wesleyan was able to get off three more shots before the end of the game, but they were not on target.  The Tigers suffered a 4-2 loss, dropping to 1-3 on the season.

Grace Alongi's two goals in today's game brought her season total to five goals.  She currently leads the SLIAC in goals, shots, and is tied for first in points this season.  Destiny Colon (FR/Colorado Springs, CO) recorded nine saves in the match, bringing her season total to 50, which is second most in the SLIAC.
