The Upper Midwest Athletic Conference has announced their player of the week awards. Iowa Wesleyan had one member of the football team receive recognition for his play over the weekend.
Darryl Smith (SR/Florissant, MO) was named the UMAC Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance on the field against MacMurray College. Smith was all over the field for the Tigers on defense and special teams. He led the team on defense with 12 total tackles including four solo tackles in the game. Smith also had a huge day on special teams for IW. He had three blocked kicks in the game, including a blocked field goal, extra point attempt, and a punt. Smith also deflected another punt in the game against the Highlanders.
Iowa Wesleyan will be back at home on October 29, 2016 for their final home game of the season. It will be Senior Day and Faculty & Staff Appreciation Day at the Maple Leaf Athletic Complex. Kickoff is set for 1 pm against Martin Luther College.
